Today saw Harriers head to York for the flat and fast Vale of York 10 mile race, the little brother of the Half Marathon event. This race is perfect for anyone looking to achieve a personal best or get some speed work in over the distance. Full results can be found here
It was another case of around and around we go today at Locke Parke as our Harrier boys and girls took on the 10/20 mile race. The race is very flat and therefore very fast as competitors undertake 10 or 20 laps of the local park. Harrier results are listed below with full results here

Friday evening saw a small number of our seniors at the 5km race at Saltwell, a flat and fast PB course. We had a huge turnout at the clubs home race, the pitstop 10km which takes place at Croft race circuit and sees competitors undertake 3 laps of the race. We had another good turnout at the Gateshead 10km race today, a race which begins outside the stadium at Gateshead takes runners out and back and into the stadium for a 300m grandstand finish. We had a big turn out on tonight’s Blaydon race, a 5.67mile race which takes place on the 9th of June each year. The Blaydon Race is an athletic race from Newcastle upon Tyne to Blaydon, following the famous 1862 Geordie folk song. Phil Teece was first of the group to finish in 32 minutes
This week saw the annual NYMAC relays, the 4 x 1mile event around Stewarts Park in Middlesbrough which is always popular amongst the running clubs. Another excellent night with loads of great performances throughout the club. Full results can be found here

Wet would be the best word to describe this event. The Sunderland Run events are always exceptionally well organised, probably something to do with Steve Cram having a major part to play in affairs but one thing that could not be organised is the weather. The midweek Summer Coast 5km race at Redcar always brings out some great performances from runners, weather is generally better around this time so you don’t normally have the concern of winds on the sea front.
