David Aiken was in Half Marathon action this weekend, this time at the Lakeland Trails Half Marathon. The course utilises the first 17km section of the marathon course which takes in a full loop of Coniston water, takes runners as far as Tarn Hows, before heading back to Coniston. Dave Tomlinson and Becci Butler were in Triathlon action this weekend, Dave taking on his first half Iron Man whilst Becci took on the Olympic distance, both races in Chester. For Dave, a 1.9km swim, 87km bike and 20km run to look forward to and Becci a 1500m swim, 40km bike and a 10km run.
Another race to take place this week was the Darlington Trail 5km race, race 3 based at South park. We had two runners on the evening in Val Clarke and Janice Foster. Val was first of the two ladies to finish in 13th place with Janice in 21st from the low key event. Val Clarke
Last Bank holiday Tony Winward took part in a new event, Summer Redcar Beach Run, a 10km run across the beach.In a small field of only 44 runners, Tony crossed the line in 2nd place in a time of 41:24.2 over a minute ahead of 3rd place and a minute behind Harrogate’s Jamie Dilasser.Good work
