David Bracken was our lone Harrier at the weekends Birmingham half marathon, an event that attracts up to 20,000 runners each yea.David had a cracking run finishing in a new personal best of 1:29:58 for 309th position.Great running David!

Last weekend the one event we didn’t cover was the Kielder half marathon where Steven Craggs was the only club runner in action. Steven, who is due to be married shortly ran a new personal best of 1:55:44 to finish 255th place. Excellent running Steven, well done!

On Sunday a handful of Harriers headed to Northumberland to take on the half and full marathons from the stunning scenery of Kielder, an event that covers a number of events over the weekend with the marathon being the piece de resistance of the weekend. On Saturday Tom Addison was the only Darlington Harrier on show at the North Eastern Harrier Cross Country League. This weekend race took place at Druridge Bay, a course which is mostly grass, a little track but no hills….just inclines. Tom had a solid run finishing 432nd in 47:18 from a field of 564 runners.
Once the 10km race was underway, the half marathon runners set off on the figure of eight course. This years course was slightly amended with the race starting and finishing just off the coast road which resulted for a fantastic day for many runners within the field with many achieving New personal bests.
