David Aiken was in action this weekend at the Lakeland Trails Dirty Double. This event requires participants to take cruise aboard Ullswater Steamer “Raven” from the Ullswater Pier at Glenridding, to the start in the hamlet of Howtown.
The 10km Ullswater Trail Run, 14km Ullswater Trail Race and 14km Ullswater Trail Challenge follow bridleways along the lake shore, giving panoramic views of Helvellyn and the surrounding peaks, finishing in Jenkins Field, next to the Ullswater Pier.
David ran Helvellyn 14km race in 1:22:57 in the storm and torrential on Saturday, and Ullswater 14km 1:26:28 on the Sunday in the sunshine. Typical British weather.
