Liam Heads back to Kielder

While the adults were out tackling what’s known as “Britain’s Most Beautiful Marathon” back at Leaplish Waterside Park, our next generation of runners got the chance to show us what they’re made of…..and back for his second year running was our very own, Under 17 Harrier, Liam Brittle.
The Kielder Junior Races were split into two age categories, and Liam took part in The Falcons 2.5k race for 11-15 year olds. Both junior routes took place within the Leaplish Waterside Park boundary in front of the throngs of spectators. Juniors got to cross over the iconic Marathon finish line alongside the stunning Kielder Water.

The juniors had a very special pace-maker to follow around some of the course – although they did struggle to keep up with the speed of Daley Thompson’s McLaren racing car!! A great experience though and something not to forget! Liam put in a great effort as he always does, and for the second year running finished in the top 3. This year it was 3rd from a field of 39 young athletes, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 9:50. Well done Liam, an excellent warm up for the cross country season!
