On Saturday morning we had a number of athletes competing at the DT40 race. A tough but scenic race which is a test for endurance and mental strength. Some outstanding performances by all club runners, Paul Lowe finishing first Harrier on the day. Excellent work by you all.
Sunday saw the annual McTaggart Trot, an event which sees runners placed in teams of three (one 3.7mile runner, a medium paced 7.5mile runner and a longer distance runner covering 11 miles) who have to run through each checkpoint together, losing one runner at each point leaving the longer distance to the finish. With an early alarm a number of Harriers headed to Selby, York to take on the Vale of York Half Marathon. The course starts on a runway and is pretty fast and flat although a little exposed to the elements which runners will have felt on their return run back to the finish. I believe

On Thursday evening 60 Harriers were on show at the NYMAC relays, a 4 person team relay each runner taking on a 1 mile loop around Stewart park Middlesboro. The course takes runners down a small bank which enables runners to get off to a quick start before levelling out until around 400m to go

Neil Embleton and Chris Binns were in action at the Wensleydale Wedge a 23 mile run across beautiful countryside starting at Askrigg Village. No official results have been released but neil and Chris finished this jaunt in 5hrs 38. Great work gentleman, looked a good day for it!
Last week we told you that some of our senior men were in action at the Really Wild Boar fell race in Sedbergh. Results are now out and in a very strong field of fell runners we saw some very impressive results. Well done all.
A number of Harriers were first to kick of the weekends activities in Amsterdam, as they took on the marathon. With most runners being very sensible on Saturday and staying away from the alcohol they were set for the race and there was some outstanding performances on the day, especially as the sun was out

Last week at the Great Cumbrian Run we had four Harriers on show that weren’t showing as a Harrier in the results. Darren Gee was first home running under the guise of Nikki Murray finished 115th, Anne Hutchinson and Iain Girard ran together finishing a second apart whilst Darren’s wife Sara finished her half marathon
Another Half marathon to take place was the Great Cumbria Run. A beautiful scenic run which takes in some fantastic views of Carlisle before finishing in the athletics stadium. Last Saturday afternoon a number of Harriers competed in the Castleton 10k race, in a small race with only 52 runners, results are now out. Some excellent results on the day with a number of team and individual prizes. Well done all!

Last week the Sedbergh Hills fell race took place, and by all accounts it was a little bit brutal over the 14 mile course with over 6000ft of ascent. Results are now in…great effort just to get round!! Well done all.
