Sunday saw the annual McTaggart Trot, an event which sees runners placed in teams of three (one 3.7mile runner, a medium paced 7.5mile runner and a longer distance runner covering 11 miles) who have to run through each checkpoint together, losing one runner at each point leaving the longer distance to the finish.
This event is a bit of fun really and many people’s favourite event on the race calendar with a large proportion of the runners in fancy dress including a very speedy reindeer who clocked the second quickest last leg in full suit!
Some of our Harriers even made the top 3 teams, including Dan Boyer, who’s team finished 1st but the real winner was the charity who raised over £2000 for St Theresa’s Hospice in Darlington.
Thank you to everyone who supported the event, including David Nalder as adjudicator, marshalls and all runners.
Finally a huge shout out to Grant McTaggart who puts this event on every year with support from Paul Cook and has a thankless task of pulling the teams together. What a legend.
