Today saw a small number of Harriers at the Saltwell Fell race a tough 5.6m race. Paul Lowe was 2nd across the line in a speedy 46.07 with Natalie Curgenven taking 1st place in the ladies race finishing 22nd overall in 55.52. 85 ran on the day. Full results can be found here

Last Wednesday, 2nd July saw the return of the clubs annual Pitstop events which are held on Croft Circuit. A nice alternative to the regular road races, athletes young and old race around the 2.2mile circuit which is normally associated with motor racing. We had a small number of Harriers at the Ossy Oiks Fell Race, a race which is classed as AS which means it’s a short course with steep climbs with most of the race on the Cleveland Way. Paul Lowe picked up 4th place on the evening with Natalie Curgenven 2nd lady on the night.

Jamie Baldasera and Neil Embleton headed over to Danby to take on the 8mile Fox & Hounds race, a race almost purely on soft ground or heather (which i’m sure she is not happy about). Full results can be found here

We had Harriers at the 14:00 train North Yorkshire Moors Railway special from Grosmont to Goathland! The aim of this race is for runners set off with the train at Grosmont and head out on the rail trail to Goathland before returning along the edge of the Moors. We had three of our runners involved in the Wensleydale Wander, an event where there is a choice of two circular walks, one a 23 mile challenge and a shorter one of 12 miles, both starting and finishing in Leyburn. Full results can be found here
An exciting introduction to the Dales Trail Series with testing ascents, spectacular ridge-running and fast technical descents. Now in its second year, this is a fully marked route which starts and finishes in Reeth, Swaledale. Results have been published here
Saturday saw the return of the Hetton Lions 2.2mile relay event, an event which has women in teams of four and men teams of six completing the undulating route before passing the baton to their team mate. We had a handful of our senior athletes at the Guisborough Woods Fell race today a race which covers 12.3miles of tough terrain including 2200ft of climbing. Some fantastic performances on the day from all of our Seniors. Full results can be found here
Ackley heads, Durham is a tough course and today was no exception with large areas of thick mud making it tricky for all our runners. Again the club turned out in force and represented the club brilliantly so big thank you to every last one of you who ran today! Full results of the event
Neil Embleton was the only Harrier in action at todays Dalby Dash 10km race. From Low Dalby visitor’s centre, the first 2 miles are a steady uphill climb on a private tarmac road along House Dale and then at the top of the hill turn right as the track levels off. First runners to summit
It was another good turnout at Foxrush cross country today, the next instalment of the NYSD XC season. Some excellent results throughout the age groups, no more so than in the senior male race where Harriers finished 1st and 3rd as well as taking 2nd overall. Full results can be found here
