Heather Mochrie was in action at the Saltburn trail marathon this weekend, a race which is a circular route across some fantastic scenery. Once again Heather was first lady across the line in 4.32.51. Amazing achievement again by our Ultra runner. Full results can be found here
We had five of our runners at the Wynyard 5km trail race, the sixth race in this trail series. Jamie Rutherford was second across the line on the evening. Full results for the race that can be found here
On Thursday evening we saw another large turnout at the Summer relays, organised by Durham City Harriers. This is a great event which sees runners running a 3000m leg around a grass course, consisting of two laps of 1500m. A fantastic event to get involved in with a good atmosphere created by all of the
Heather Mochrie was in marathon action again this weekend, this time at Saltburn and once again it was a successful outing for our super ultra runner as she finished 1st lady on the day in 4.32.51. Full results can be found here
Veteran runners Shirley Gibson and Ian Barnes were at the Pinchinthorpe 5km trail race this week, an event taking place in Guisborough Forest and Walkway. Shirley Gibson was first of our two home 26:16 with Ian Barnes 26:38. Absolutely inspirational running from our two vets. Full results can be found here
Louise and Barry Talman along with Garry Collinson were involved in the Butterwick Hamsterley Forest 10km race this weekend. Louise and husband Barry running together finished 13th and 14th in 45.43 with Louise picking up prize for first lady across the line. Garry finished 19th in 47.36 from the 137 runners. Louise Talman placed first at the Gerry Kearsley Handicap which is run in January and July over a multi terrain route on trails around Fishburn and Bishop Middleham. Midweek saw the return of the Clive Golledge memorial relays, an event which sees mixed teams take on a 3 person relay event starting on the track in Crook, but contains a nice hill to run up before descending down the other side and eventually back on the track to finish. Matt Capsey and Mike King were in action at this years Lyke Wake Challenge, an event which sees essentially competitors crossing the North Yorkshire Moors from Osmotherley to Ravenscar. We had a bunch of our hardcore Harriers at Esk Valley’s latest event, the Guisborough Grunt. This is a tough event but as always our Senior Harriers took it head on. Full results can be found here
Paul Cook, Sharon Barlow and Corinne Murray decided the previous night to head south to Yorkshire for a run out at the Yorkshire Wolds Half marathon, a race described as a scenic and challenging course through the picturesque Yorkshire Wolds. Paul and Sharon decided to use this as a training run rather than a race
The weekend saw three of our runners at the Hardmoors 55. The Hardmoors 55 is a 55 mile Ultramarathon running from Guisborough to Helmsley. The 55 mile race takes competitors through the North York Moors and the Cleveland Hills in tough conditions. Matt finished 63rd in 10hrs 39 with Mark 98th in 11 hrs 14.
We had two of our runners in action at todays Hamsterley Forest 11.3m race, an event which puts competitors through their paces in the tough environment of the local forest. We had three of our runners at the Osmotherley 20km race, an event which starts and finishes in the beautiful village of Osmotherley. The route takes runners out of the village on the Cleveland Way to the mast at Beacon Hill before heading back towards Cod Beck Reservoir. A short road section will take them
Paul Cook and Sharon Barlow decided to have a social run at the Muddy Boots 10km race at Ripon, a race which is predominately off road across fields, turn styles and grass. The pair finished the race in 11th and 12th position both crossing in 40.18 from the 437 runners on the day. Full results
