Caedmon School, Whitby played host to hundreds of athletes, from Under 11 to Over 70, for the second meeting of the 2018/2019 NYSD Cross Country series. Two of our athletes were in action on Sunday morning over in Wensleydale, a 23 mile challenge called the Wensleydale Wedge. John Gray was first to finish in 3hrs 55 in 24th position with Julian Waller taking over Darren Gee’s number through injury finished 80th from the 300 runners, this being Julian’s longest ever run.

Now the schools’ cross country season is well under way, some of our juniors were back in action again last week. After a successful 1st round, teams from Hummersknott and Carmel progressed to the Regional Final of the English Schools Cross Country Cup, with the aim of making it to the Final on 24th November.

Steven Craggs was the lone Harrier at the weekends Mo Run 10km race, a race which is put on by the Movember Foundation held at Exhibition Park in Newcastle. Last weekend we had two of our ladies in half marathon action, this time all the way out in Los Angeles at their Rock N Roll event. A run through Downtown Los Angeles certainly beats a run around the streets of Darlington! Laura Sawyer finished her race in 2hrs 44:11 with Samantha Stanley in 3:20:33.
