We had three of our athletes in midweek action, this time at the Fox and Hounds trail race, a 8.7m race with over 1400ft of ascent to tackle along the way! On the night it was Natalie Curgenven first of the three home in 17th place followed by Sarah Tomlinson in 46th and Wes Atkins
Darren Stockdale and David Aiken were in action this weekend at the Ilkley Moor 8 mile race. The 6.9 out-and-back route takes in tracks through woodland, fields and moors, interspersed with some short road sections. Heather Mochrie was in Ultra action again this weekend at the 53 mile Trail marathon through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, Scotland. Shirley Gibson may need a holiday after her recent holiday to Lanzarote as she undertook 4 races over 4 days at the 28th International Running Festival. The races cover 5k, 10k, 13k and 21k…all very European! Fantastic achievement to do this Shirley, well done! Full results can be found here
We had four of our members at the Ravenscar half marathon and 10km this weekend. The Half marathon race is billed as a 13.1 mile challenging off road half marathon, starting from Ravenscar Village Hall (midway between Whitby and Scarborough) situated 700 feet above sea level and overlooking Robin Hood’s Bay in the North York Moors

The impressive Susie Stephen was in action again this weekend, this time at the Kealia Quad Crusher. Mile for mile, the KQC is going down in the record books as one of the toughest races out there. Congratulations Susie who completed the course in 2:19:07 which is incredible considering there is a colossal 4,000 feet
We had a number of our runners at the Malhamdale challenge this weekend, a 22 mile run route which is undulating (hilly!) with 1650 feet of ascent incorporating a mix of hard-packed rocky trails, boggy sections, limestone rocks and grassy tracks. Full results can be found here
We had three of our athletes in action at the Clay Bank fell race, a short 4.2mile race but with over 1000 feet climb over the distance, a tough event. Dave McKenna finished 31st ahead of Natalie Curgenven in 35th and Darren Stockdale in 52nd. Full results can be found here
Jamie Rutherford was the only Harrier on show at the 62nd 3 peaks race. This is a race that is not for the amateur and qualification is required to even participate. Jamie, mixing with the specialists finished in 3.58.12 for 166th place. Full race results can be found here
On Wednesday evening we saw another good turnout at the Neptune 4 stage relays, an event which is ran by Sedgefield Harriers around Hardwick park. Each leg is around 1.7miles. Saturday saw a number of Harriers head to Hamsterley Forest for the mornings 10km mixed terrain event. Unfortunately the race organisers didn’t add the clubs to the runners on the day but hopefully we have captured everyone.
