Paul Lowe was one of a small number of Harriers at tonight’s Cowpen Bewley 5km race and didn’t disappoint on the evening. In a good race Paul finished 4th in 18.45 while team mate Simon Rogers finished 7th in 19.40. Full results for all of our runners can be found here
Neville Ford and Wes Atkins headed to Coxhoe Trail Run, a scenic route full of interest and undulating over old railway lines and quarry paths between Coxhoe and Kelloe in County Durham. We had three of our runners at this years Roseberry Topping Fell race. Roseberry Topping, was once considered the highest peak in North Yorkshire and due its dramatic shape draws comparison with the famous Matterhorn. Sunday saw a number of our club runners on the grounds of Auckland Castle, Bishop Auckland, a 5mile (approx) trail race which has a bit of everything for runners. Some great results on the day from all. Full results can be found here
We had a handful of Harriers at the midweek Watergate 5km trail race. It is hosted by Lowfell running club and up is set in the lovely scenic surrounds of Watergate Park, Lobley Hill. It consists of 2 laps of the park around the lake. It was also incorporating the NEMAA multi terrain 5km championships.
Alison Matthews was again in action this weekend, this time at the Lowther 13mile trail race. The route has about 3 miles of tarmac and the rest is mostly open country with grassy and gravel tracks, also about two miles crossing rough pasture. Heather Mochrie was in marathon action again this weekend, this time at the Hardmoors Wainstone marathon. Our super girl really is a machine on this type of terrain and once again she came up trumps finishing 1st lady and 7th overall. Incredible. Full results can be found here
This week saw a small number of Harriers at the Ravenscar Rumble, a coastal fell race with free cake to tempt runners over the finish line. A scenic course of approximately 7.5km/4.7 miles with a 240m climb. We will cover this story once results have been released.
We had a small number of seniors at this weekends Gateshead 10km trail race. The Gateshead Trail 10k that winds through the Derwent Walk Country Park is a fast, fun, and scenic race, with only a few inclines. Full results can be found here
Heather Mochrie was in action this weekend for the 24 mile long 3,500 feet ascent LDWA Hanging Stone Leap event on Saturday 6 August. We had a small number of Harriers taking on the Dales Trail 30km today on a day which saw the sun make an appearance. Some excellent performances on the day, full results of which can be found here
Today saw three of our runners head to Holwick, near Middleton in Teesdale for the Cronkley Fell race. the race covers 10.5miles and has climbs of 1755ft so a tough one on the legs. Results have yet to be published but the trio were full of smiles….at least before they set off!
Mark Milner was in action this weekend at the Lykewake 42mile challenge, a race which gets competitors to take kit with them and go through the following check points along the way. Jamie Rutherford was the lone Harrier at this years Northumberland Coastal Half Marathon which sees competitors go off path around the scenic Northumberland countryside. On the day Jamie finished in 34th place in 1:29:10. For full results click here
