On Saturday a small number of Harriers headed south to Sheffield to compete in the Northern XC relays. First up were the ladies team of Lucy Hunter, Natalie Curgenven and Sue Phillips who finished 20th overall followed by the male team of Paul Lowe, Paul Allan, Barry Talman and David McKenna, finishing in 49th place.
In other news Sue Phillips has been selected to run for England in this years British Masters International XC in Derry on November 18th. A fantastic achievement by Sue who has had another fantastic season at the club. Well done Sue and good luck!

The first fixture of the North East Harrier cross country league took place at Wrekenton, just outside of Gateshead on Saturday afternoon. A massive 583 men finished the 9.52k senior course which features an innovative three pack start (slow, medium & fast), chip timing and a league system for competing clubs. Competing as a guest
Last Sunday afternoon the club were competing in the Thirsk relays which is the start of the cross country season, the 2.2 mile relays. Some good performances from both the men and the ladies on the day. Respect to everyone who ran on the day and gave it their best for the team.

This years club handicap took place opposite South Park on a 1.5mile loop course (approx) which saw runners once again post their expected finishing time and then running the course in a handicap system with the fastest runners setting off last. Jade Hutchinson was in competition at the Inter Counties XC at Loughborough today as part of the U20’s North East team who finished first place on the day. jade finished in 70th place overall over the 6km event in 26.02.
Darlington Harriers will have a record-breaking 10 young athletes at the English Schools Cross-Country Championships. Nine of them will be representing County Durham, the biggest-ever club representation. It was another good turnout at Foxrush cross country today, the next instalment of the NYSD XC season. Some excellent results throughout the age groups, no more so than in the senior male race where Harriers finished 1st and 3rd as well as taking 2nd overall. Full results can be found here
