Today marked the 10th anniversary of Sedgefield Harriers running club and to celebrate the day a 10km race was put on to mark the occasion around the parkrun course at Sedgefield. On the day it was Lesley Miller who claimed first place in the ladies race. Official results have yet to be released.
A few hours after finishing Vale of York Half marathon, Simon Rogers, Paul Cook and Sharon Barlow were back in action at the Thirsk relays to support the team at the first Cross Country event of the season. A great turnout across all age groups on the day. Full results can be found here
Jade Hutchinson was first of the two junior triathletes involved in the Teesdale Triathlon. What was more impressive was that Jade was 56th fastest from the 126 athletes involved, a large section very experienced seniors. Full results from the event can be found here
Sunday saw a number of Harriers at the Vale of York Half Marathon. This race is similar to January’s Brass Monkey where the course is predominately flat with a few slight inclines along the route but nothing that should worry runners. Sunday saw the return of the Great North Run, an event which has been running since 1981 with two of our club members, Harry Singh and Paul Kelly having ran in every single one, two of around 100 people in the world to have completed this feat. Second claim runner Tori Green not only got
Saturday saw the Morrisons Great North Run take place with a number of our talented junior athletes taking part. Ben Tinkler and India Pentland were the first boy and girl home for the club but some terrific performance by all of our junior athletes on the day. Full results can be found here

Sunday saw the annual Tees Pride 10km race in Middlesbrough, a race which is fairly flat which makes it a popular course for runners who are looking for a fast time or a good warm up for an Autumn marathon. Drew Inglis was first home for the club finishing 18th in 34 minutes flat with
On Easter Sunday Darren Stockdale flew the flag for the club at the Guisborough Three Tops fell race completing the approx. 8 mile course in 1hr 45. Full results are here (not the right race)
Now it’s usually club members hitting the back pages in the sport world but Sharon Barlow has hit the front page this year after her winning performance at Wetherby last year.
Corinne Murray was the only Harrier at this weekends Halifax marathon. This event is described as one of the most impressive physical feats of human endurance is the ability to run a marathon (42 kilometres). Corinne finished this race in 4.06.33. Full results can be found here
Heather Mochrie was in action at the Saltburn trail marathon this weekend, a race which is a circular route across some fantastic scenery. Once again Heather was first lady across the line in 4.32.51. Amazing achievement again by our Ultra runner. Full results can be found here

We had six of our athletes at the Tynedale 10 mile on Sunday. Starting and finishing at Hexham Racecourse, the highest point of the Tyne Valley, the race avoids any built up areas and make the most of Hexhamshire’s peaceful minor roads. Heather Mochrie was in marathon action again this weekend, this time at Saltburn and once again it was a successful outing for our super ultra runner as she finished 1st lady on the day in 4.32.51. Full results can be found here
There was 272 runners at the midweek Millennium Bridge 5km race in York, on a lovely evening for racing taking runners out around a flat course, around the park’s lake then back over the other side of the river for a fast finish. Sharon Barlow was the first of our two runners on the evening
The rebirth of the Darlington Harrier Senior section at the Darlington 10k 2015. A year earlier only 12 seniors turned out for the home race to around 70 a year later. This race sees competitors complete two laps of the course before bringing runners back along Skinnergate and onto High Row for the Grandstand finish. Full results can
Darlington Harriers made a return to the Elswick Good Friday Relays. The team made up of Darren Stockdale, Mark Tallon, Jamie Rutherford and Drew Inglis took a solid midfield place 33 out of 62 senior men’s team in a race which, including veterans teams, saw 108 men’s teams take part over the 2.2 mile course.
Veteran runners Shirley Gibson and Ian Barnes were at the Pinchinthorpe 5km trail race this week, an event taking place in Guisborough Forest and Walkway.
