Alison Matthews was the only Harrier competing at this weekends Cotswolds Classic, Middle Distance Triathlon. The race is described as flat and fast Middle Distance triathlon set in the heart of the picturesque Cotswolds. On Thursday evening we saw another large turnout at the Summer relays, organised by Durham City Harriers. Heather Mochrie was in marathon action again this weekend, this time at Saltburn and once again it was a successful outing for our super ultra runner as she finished 1st lady on the day in 4.32.51. Full results can be found here
There was 272 runners at the midweek Millennium Bridge 5km race in York, on a lovely evening for racing taking runners out around a flat course, around the park’s lake then back over the other side of the river for a fast finish. Sharon Barlow was the first of our two runners on the evening
The rebirth of the Darlington Harrier Senior section at the Darlington 10k 2015. A year earlier only 12 seniors turned out for the home race to around 70 a year later. This race sees competitors complete two laps of the course before bringing runners back along Skinnergate and onto High Row for the Grandstand finish. Full results can
Darlington Harriers made a return to the Elswick Good Friday Relays. The team made up of Darren Stockdale, Mark Tallon, Jamie Rutherford and Drew Inglis took a solid midfield place 33 out of 62 senior men’s team in a race which, including veterans teams, saw 108 men’s teams take part over the 2.2 mile course.
Linda Tinkler was the only Harrier at todays Run For All York 10km race, a race which takes runners through the scenic streets of the city before looping back to where runners started from. Veteran runners Shirley Gibson and Ian Barnes were at the Pinchinthorpe 5km trail race this week, an event taking place in Guisborough Forest and Walkway. Shirley Gibson was first of our two home 26:16 with Ian Barnes 26:38. Absolutely inspirational running from our two vets. Full results can be found here
Louise and Barry Talman along with Garry Collinson were involved in the Butterwick Hamsterley Forest 10km race this weekend. Louise and husband Barry running together finished 13th and 14th in 45.43 with Louise picking up prize for first lady across the line. Garry finished 19th in 47.36 from the 137 runners. Louise Talman placed first at the Gerry Kearsley Handicap which is run in January and July over a multi terrain route on trails around Fishburn and Bishop Middleham. Midweek saw the return of the Clive Golledge memorial relays, an event which sees mixed teams take on a 3 person relay event starting on the track in Crook, but contains a nice hill to run up before descending down the other side and eventually back on the track to finish. New Marske was the venue for tonight’s 5km race with another good turnout from the senior runners. On a good night for racing, Simon Rogers was first home in an excellent 17.26 for 20th place, with Sharon Barlow only five seconds and two places behind to finish 2nd lady just missing out on first place
Today saw a number of Harriers in Track and Field action at Middlesboro Sports Village in the latest NYSD event. Some amazing performances on the day no more so than our very talented bunch of sprinters. Results have yet to be released but will be available through the Power of Ten website.
251 runners took part in the Kilburn Feast 7.2 mile road today. The course is a very challenging undulating journey out of Kilburn to Coxwold, through to Byland Abbey to Oldstead and finally back into the village of Kilburn. The first mile out of Kilburn is flat and fast, very difficult to pace yourself well
Matt Capsey and Mike King were in action at this years Lyke Wake Challenge, an event which sees essentially competitors crossing the North Yorkshire Moors from Osmotherley to Ravenscar.
