We had a huge turnout at the clubs home race, the pitstop 10km which takes place at Croft race circuit and sees competitors undertake 3 laps of the race. Sedgefield was the location for this years North East Cross Country Championships. The morning was quite mild, sun shining and a gentle run round parkrun was in order to test my achillies injury out before attempting the late mornings cross country. Sunday saw the second instalment of this seasons Cross Country Season, venue, Acklam. Acklam Cross Country is more like a trail race with plenty grass to run on but trail paths on sections of the race. To see how our Harrier members got on across the age groups click here
Sunday saw the first full distance Cross Country event of the season, taking place at Whitby. This is a great race with a mix of trail and predominately grass around the course and one steep hill which when the weather is bad, a rope is placed on the hill to assist people to the top….three
The rebirth of the Darlington Harrier Senior section at the Darlington 10k 2015. A year earlier only 12 seniors turned out for the home race to around 70 a year later. This race sees competitors complete two laps of the course before bringing runners back along Skinnergate and onto High Row for the Grandstand finish. Full results can
Midweek saw a good turnout of Harriers at the Crook relays which starts and finishes on the athletics track. The course sees runners head out of the complex on path before a long run up a tough, steep hill before levelling off and coming back down the other side. A fantastic night with a great
Midweek saw the return of the Clive Golledge memorial relays, an event which sees mixed teams take on a 3 person relay event starting on the track in Crook, but contains a nice hill to run up before descending down the other side and eventually back on the track to finish. Sunday saw the return of the Aycliffe 10k race, an event which sees athletes run 1 small loop and two larger loops around the Greenfield area of the town….not very scenic! The course looks flat but it’s actually quite undulating as runners find to their cost! There was quite a mix up with timing afterwards
We had a number of our club members involved in the NYSD meet at Eastbourne Sports Complex this week, numbers have certainly increased this year and it’s great to see so many athletes wearing the club colours once again in the area.
