David Aiken and Kim Reeve took on the Howgills Harriers Ravenstonedale 10k race , after Kim watched son Joe win the 3k event in slippery conditions. Last Sunday saw the Harriers take on the new XC race at Preston Park, Eaglescliffe. Results are now out which had the women finish 3rd and the men 4th on the day. Another brilliant turnout for the club. Well done everyone who competed.
David Aiken was the lone Harrier at the ‘Out on the Wild, Windy Moors’ fell race. A 13km race along the Bronte Way finishing at Howarth High Street…..with a free beer at the end of the race (what more would you want!). David completed the race in 1hr 26 and his pint in 45 seconds,
David Aiken was in action twice this weekend as he first competed in the Lakeland trails race at Helvellyn, 15km of wind and wet conditions. David finished this in 1hr 22:28, a warm up event to the Ullswater event on Sunday. David finished in an excellent 1hr 33 in the 14km race and his girlfriend

On Sunday morning on home turf, the Darlington Harriers were out in force as nearly 200 club runners pulled on their club vest to run in both the Darlington 3k and 10k races. Today saw a small number of our hardcore Harrier group at the Dales Trail 30, affectionately known as the DT30. A bit of a classic with nearly 3,000ft of climbing up to Tan Hill Inn. With sections of the C2C including the steep, rocky descent into Swinner Gill and a fast 3km downhill into Muker,
Today saw a small number of Harriers at the Saltwell Fell race a tough 5.6m race. Paul Lowe was 2nd across the line in a speedy 46.07 with Natalie Curgenven taking 1st place in the ladies race finishing 22nd overall in 55.52. 85 ran on the day. Full results can be found here
Saturday represented another exciting return to trail running with the Lakeland Trails Staveley 17km. It’s a stunning and challenging course, set in the Kentmere valley. The infamous ‘Sting in the Tail’ that is Reston Scar, at around 15.5km, is a killer. Results have yet to be released for this one.
David Aiken, along with girlfriend Rebecca headed to the hills again to taken on the Lakeland marathon. Although results have yet to be released, results will be published here
David Aiken was our runner at the Glaisdale Rigg Fell race, in Guisborough. The route is a mix of county lanes, muddy paths over the moors, and hard core bridleways. There is enough moorland running to make a good grippy trail shoe or fell shoe essential. Full results can be found here

We had Harriers at the 14:00 train North Yorkshire Moors Railway special from Grosmont to Goathland! The aim of this race is for runners set off with the train at Grosmont and head out on the rail trail to Goathland before returning along the edge of the Moors. We had three of our runners involved in the Wensleydale Wander, an event where there is a choice of two circular walks, one a 23 mile challenge and a shorter one of 12 miles, both starting and finishing in Leyburn. Full results can be found here
An exciting introduction to the Dales Trail Series with testing ascents, spectacular ridge-running and fast technical descents. Now in its second year, this is a fully marked route which starts and finishes in Reeth, Swaledale. Results have been published here
We had a handful of our senior athletes at the Guisborough Woods Fell race today a race which covers 12.3miles of tough terrain including 2200ft of climbing. Some fantastic performances on the day from all of our Seniors. Full results can be found here
