Weekly Round up w/e 4th September

The Weekly round-up of club activities covering all disciplines and age groups. This report will not provide you with a detailed account of each event but should give you enough information about what’s occurred the previous week, who’s participated and links to photographs and results. We encourage all members, parents and anyone associated with the club to provide us with any content that may enhance the information that is shared each week.

Race Results

Last week Thomas Hill was in action at the National Championship in Bedford and the International Stadium after being the only Darlington athlete to qualify. Thomas who has only just taken up pole vault in the last 12 months finished 5th in the U15’s competition. Remarkable achievement Thomas well done.

Over the weekend we also saw two events take place in Middlesboro. At the Ali Brownlee 5km race John Clifford was 2nd across the line in 16.31 and first V50 ahead of Matthew Foster in 25th place in 20mins dead who showed his dad Barry how to do it by finishing 72 seconds ahead

At the 10km event on a wet morning it was Sharon Carbert who lead the troops home finishing in 167th place in a time of 46.38 and claimed 3rd F50 on the day. Great times from all of our Harriers on the day including Karen and Kelly who weren’t listed as club members in the results.

Amanda Waller was in Triathlon action at the ROC Championship in Wales. Commencing at Abersoch beach the race begins with a 1.5km swim before taking on an undulating 50km bike and a short 1km run. Amanda did great finishing 144th overall in her first Triathlon. Well done Amanda.

Also to take place this weekend was the Cross Country event at Sunderland where we had a number of junior athletes in action. In the U11 girls race Sascha Patterson finished 2nd with Charlotte Sensical 12th while U11 boys Monty Bowden equalled Sascha’s achievement by finishing 2nd with George Togher 12th.

In the U13 boys race it was Rowan Steel who was first to finish in 2nd place while team mates Aidan Patterson finished 7th and James I’anson 10th. Louis Brett was the only U17 boy for the club competing and finished in 5th place. Well done to you all.

We had three of our athletes competing at the Reeth Show Fell race over the weekend at the off road up and down event (shorter distance for the juniors). Deborah Jefferies finished 96th in the senior race while Monty Bowden finished 16th and Charlie Blanchard 30th in the junior event.
