Weekly Round up w/e 28th August

The Weekly round-up of club activities covering all disciplines and age groups. This report will not provide you with a detailed account of each event but should give you enough information about what’s occurred the previous week, who’s participated and links to photographs and results. We encourage all members, parents and anyone associated with the club to provide us with any content that may enhance the information that is shared each week.

How do I?…

Race Results

Multi eventers Andy Harrison, Sarah Johnson and Lindsay Lester were in Decathlon and Heptathlon action last weekend at the North West combined events championships. On the day Sarah got gold in the masters W40 category, Andy silver in the M40 with Lindsey bronze in the W45 category. Well done all three of you!

At the Summer 5km race at Trimdon, Colin Taylor was once again on the podium finishing in 3rd place as he was edged out for 2nd in the final stages of the race. Other Harriers running on the night were Trevor Mitchell who finished 34th , Hayden Thompson 46th while Kelly Jordan finished 59th and Karen Rafiq 60th running the course together. 68 runners competed on the night.

Colin

James Carberry was in off road action…..the 100km Mont Blanc CCC (Courmayeur – Champex – Chamonix) race. This race through the mountains is an incredible feat and one i’m struggling to get my head around. James completed this event and lived to tell the tale! I doth my cap to you sir.

Finally the finish!

At the final North East Masters Track and Field league match took place we had a small number of athletes in action. Competing in the Shot, Sarah Johnson threw 8.34m while Deborah Jefferies ran a time of 3.46.3 in the 800m. Amy Pickworth finished her 200m in 30.7 secs then leapt to 1.15m in the high jump, Sarah finishing with 1.30m. Sarah completed her night by leaping to 7.29m in the nights triple jump competition. Well done all.

At the Tom Wall (NYMAC) Relays the club had a small number of teams competing this time around but some excellent performances were once again no more so than from the team of James Largey, John Clifford, Graham Hindmarsh and Adam Harker who finished 1st overall on the night. Fantastic achievement gentleman and well done to all our runners who put in some superb performances.
