Wednesday night saw the new season’s North East Grand Prix get under way with the first meeting at Monkton Stadium, Jarrow……and it’s been a busy start to the Track & Field season for Rosie and Lily Thompson, and Charlotte Rutter who were all back in action again here!
Under 15 Girls 75m Hurdles Just the one event for Charlotte tonight, but definitely worth turning out as she finished in 1st place and achieved a new PB of 11.95 – a AAA Grade 2 performance! A fantastic effort Charlotte, well done!
Under 17 Women Shot Putt Another strong performance from Rosie Thompson in the Shot Putt tonight, with a best throw of 8.72m –enough for a 4th place finish. Well done Rosie, a great effort.
Under 13 Girls Javelin Where there’s one Thompson there’s usually another……and tonight was no different as younger sister, Lily took part in the javelin. An excellent throw of 13.26m was enough to bag 2nd place. Well done, Lily, keep up the good work!
Under 13 Girls Shot Putt Lily was in action again in the shot putt. She’s been getting closer and closer to breaking the 8.0m mark in this event, so I suppose it was only a matter of time…..well tonight she did it! A fantastic throw of 8.13m was enough for 1st place tonight…..a new PB and also a AAA Grade 2 performance. Congratulations, Lily, another milestone reached, and well deserved too!
Under 17 Women’s Javelin Rosie’s turn for the javelin this time. Up against some tough competition tonight she finished in 4th place…..but what a throw. Only 5cm off her new PB of 18.99m, set just the night before at the first NYSD meeting. Well done Rosie, another top performance!
