Three of our Junior Harriers were selected to represent the North East at the world’s biggest marathon event on Sunday. Gabby Hall (Under 13’s) along with India Pentland and Ellie Phillips (Under 17’s), joined other juniors from around the country, to pound the streets of the capital on one of the hottest days of the year.
The Mini Marathon races for Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 age groups, preceded the main event of the day, and also doubled as the British Athletics three-mile road championships. The route followed the last 3 miles of the main London Marathon circuit, starting at Old Billingsgate and ending at the world famous finish line on The Mall.
All three girls had a fantastic day, doing the North East and DHAC proud…..and with some excellent performances. Gabby was the 2nd North East girl to cross the line in the U13 race, whilst India was 1st and Ellie 3rd from the North East in the U17 race. What a tremendous effort from all three, well done girls!
