We had four of our members at the Ravenscar half marathon and 10km this weekend. The Half marathon race is billed as a 13.1 mile challenging off road half marathon, starting from Ravenscar Village Hall (midway between Whitby and Scarborough) situated 700 feet above sea level and overlooking Robin Hood’s Bay in the North York Moors
John and Gabby Hall were involved in a fun run 5km in Acklam, Middleborough to spend some quality time together, support a local charity….and obviously to win!! Hope you both had fun.

The impressive Susie Stephen was in action again this weekend, this time at the Kealia Quad Crusher. Mile for mile, the KQC is going down in the record books as one of the toughest races out there. Congratulations Susie who completed the course in 2:19:07 which is incredible considering there is a colossal 4,000 feet
We had three of our athletes in action at the Clay Bank fell race, a short 4.2mile race but with over 1000 feet climb over the distance, a tough event. Dave McKenna finished 31st ahead of Natalie Curgenven in 35th and Darren Stockdale in 52nd. Full results can be found here
Today saw a number of our junior and senior runners head to Middlesboro to take part in the evenings North Yorkshire & South Durham League Track and Field meet. Some excellent performances all round tonight, full results yet to be released.
Shaun Marshall was in action this action this weekend at the Belfast River Rock marathon. The race start at Belfast City Hall and finish at the Tennis Centre at Ormeau Embankment but leaving times are staggered following the route below. Shaun running his first marathon finished in an excellent 3.10.06 for 113th place. Full results
Wet would be the best word to describe this event. The Sunderland Run events are always exceptionally well organised, probably something to do with Steve Cram having a major part to play in affairs but one thing that could not be organised is the weather. Jamie Rutherford was the only Harrier on show at the 62nd 3 peaks race. This is a race that is not for the amateur and qualification is required to even participate. Jamie, mixing with the specialists finished in 3.58.12 for 166th place. Full race results can be found here
The midweek Summer Coast 5km race at Redcar always brings out some great performances from runners, weather is generally better around this time so you don’t normally have the concern of winds on the sea front. It was Sharon Barlow who once again finished first for the club in 21st place and picking up first
On Wednesday evening we saw another good turnout at the Neptune 4 stage relays, an event which is ran by Sedgefield Harriers around Hardwick park. Each leg is around 1.7miles. Saturday saw a number of Harriers head to Hamsterley Forest for the mornings 10km mixed terrain event. Unfortunately the race organisers didn’t add the clubs to the runners on the day but hopefully we have captured everyone. Sunday saw a number of our Harriers at the London Marathon, a race which takes athletes round our nations capital passing all the great landmarks including the Cutty Sark, Buckingham Palace and Big Ben. Barry Talman first home for the club in 3hrs 11, Martin McGregor completing his first ever marathon and John Cook supported
Peter Foulds and Iain Girard went to the scenic Swaledale for a challenging 10/20k circular route, heading up to and along the hidden dale of Apedale, before returning across the river to Reeth. Peter finished in 1.50.52 for 31st place in the 20k, full results can be found here with Iain running in the 10k event
Andrew Dobson is getting pretty good at this Duathlon business it seems! At the Stockton Novice Duathlon Andrew was first home in a total time of 38.31 over a minute ahead of his nearest rival. Full results can be found here
We had a small number of Harriers at the Tri Hard sprint race in Stockton this weekend, a race which sees athletes run 5000m, Bike 2000m then finish off with a 2500m run. Results have yet to be released but will be published here
Exciting running races are all the rage this summer and North York Moors Athletics Club get in on the act when they promote the Tom Wall 4 x 1 mile relays in Middlesbrough next week. The annual baton-change event takes place at Stewart Park in Marton with a 7pm start time and is fully subscribed
Sharon Barlow was once again in majestic form at the Vale of York 10 mile race, a race which is flat and fast starting and finishing on the airfield. Not only was Sharon first lady across the line in 62.45 for 36th place overall she also picked up the ladies team prize alongside Corinne Murray
