It was another good turnout at Foxrush cross country today, the next instalment of the NYSD XC season. Some excellent results throughout the age groups, no more so than in the senior male race where Harriers finished 1st and 3rd as well as taking 2nd overall. Full results can be found here
Today saw a large turnout of Harriers in memory of Gavin Duffy, the Billingham Marsh Harrier who’s life was tragically cut short while Gavin was in his prime. Great to see so many clubs coming together to support. Full results can be found here
Midweek saw a handful of our Harriers at the Chopgate Chiller, a 9.6 mile long route which takes in the peaks of Cold Moor, Cringle Moor and Carlton Bank before returning to Chop Gate. To see how our runners got on the night see results for short distance here and the long route here
Sunday saw the return of the popular Leeds Abbey Dash 10km a race which attracts a high quality field from across the country and is usually a GB qualifying event so a sub 40 minute is no guarantee for a top 1000 position. Jeff Miller was first home on the day in 486th place in
Over a thousand teams took part in the Saucony English Cross Country Relays held at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield today. Once again the popularity of the venue proved it was the place to be after the prolonged changeover to Mansfield DC running the Park as Corporate Trustees. We had a handful of runners at the People’s Run 2 Remember, a 5km run around Silksworth grounds in Sunderland. This event was not timed but raises money for veteran charities in the North East. Great to see the vent being supported, well done all.
We had a small number of Harriers at the Derwentwater 10 mile race, a race which is described as being the most scenic in the UK. Alison Matthews took the honours for the club finishing 3rd in the ladies race, first V35 but good performances throughout. Full results can be found here
Sunday saw some of our senior members running at the Town Moor, Newcastle, Half and Full marathon event. These races take place around the open park which is predominately man made paths with some footpaths on the outskirt of the park and inside. Runners complete multiple laps of the course which has it’s good and
The Morpeth to Newcastle road race was a permanent fixture on the region’s running scene for more than a century. It last took place in 2006, but rising running costs called a halt to 102 years of history. Barry Bell was our only competitor on the day, finishing in 3:59.20 in 128th position. Full results
Sunday afternoon saw the Harrier troops swarm to Thirsk to take part in the NYSD relays to kick start the Cross Country Season. Some fantastic team performances with plenty podium places on the day. Full results can be found here

We had a handful of our runners in action at the Osmotherley 20km race today. There are 2 distances, the long route of 20k and the short route of 12k. Both provide significant a challenge to those who like off-road, mixed terrain running. The area around Osmotherley provides some amazing running terrain, which this event
We had a number of runners at the weekends 10km race in Scarbrough. This is a flat and fast race on the coast, but like most of these races susceptible to the wind. Full results can be found here
Jared Holdcroft was unsurprisingly the only Harrier at todays Lake Nona 5km event in Florida. As of yet results have yet to be released but Jared was good enough to send a photo in the interim period.
This weekend saw a handful of our runners at the Hellhole 10km race, an out and back multi-terrain course of approximately 10K consisting of good cycle tracks, footpaths, muddy fields and country roads. To find out how our ladies got on, click here
Jeff Miller was one of a handful of runners racing the Yorkshire marathon. This flat and fast marathon is ideal for all abilities of runners especially for those looking to complete their first or aiming towards a new personal best. To find out how all of our runners got on, on the day click here
Natalie Curgenven was our only competitor at todays Pathfinder 25 mile race, a circular walk mostly on open moorland, with some sections crossing farm land and a short stretch through Guisborough Woods. On the day Nat was first lady back. Official results have yet to be released.
We saw another good turnout at the testing Richmond 10km race which has three testing climbs over the 6.22miles. Russell Adams our second claim runner was 5th overall which meant we had three of our runners in the top 10. Full results can be found here
