Following a successful season in 2022 which led to promotion to The North East Premier Division, our Senior Team opened up the 2023 season on Saturday 20th May at Morpeth. In a division with, Gateshead, Morpeth, New Marske, North Shields Poly and Durham/Chester Le Street, this season looks set to be a challenging one for the team.
With a number of athletes unavailable a reduced team took the trip to Morpeth for the opening fixture. DHAC had 17 athletes competing in a total of 53 events across the day (plus four relays). Ten personal bests we set or broken and three Club Records were set or broken:
V35M Javelin – Ed Lamb breaking a record from 2021
V40W Long Jump – Sarah Johnson breaking her own record from earlier this season
V40W Hammer – Sarah Johnson setting a new record
After the events on the day, DHAC sat third in the table with 275 points. After officials points had been added we moved up to second with 330 points behind Gateshead (352.5 points) – a fantastic result for the team. Huge thanks and well done to the volunteers on the day for making all the difference.
