Harriers Succeed Outside Athletics

As you are aware our Junior Harriers don’t just succeed at athletics. Their talents go beyond the track or the cross country circuit, and this week there are a few we thought you would like to hear about….
Three of our Under 13 Harriers were part of the Carmel’s Year 7 Girls’ football team that won the Darlington Schools’ 5-a-side Championships last week. Olivia Bell, Lily Large and Beth Wakes played their socks off to beat Longfield 2-0 in the final. In the group stages they beat Polam 1-0, drew with Wyvern 0-0 and beat Longfield B 5-0.

The girls will now represent Darlington in the County finals in the new year. Well done, girls.

One of George Peacock’s other passions, along with athletics, football….(the list goes on!) is boxing. He started earlier this year but he’s already making a name for himself. His latest bout was part of the Horden & Peterlee Boxing Club’s show, where he fought for three 1 ½ minute rounds which he won on a unanimous decision! As you can imagine, he was thrilled to bits. Well done, George, excellent stuff.

Some people just never stop! Liam Brittle was part of the Longfield Badminton team that won the silver medal in the Darlington Schools Badminton Competition. Great effort, Liam, well done.
