Race Results
We had some of our junior athletes at the Inter counties Track & Field championships this week in York as part of the North East team. On the track Hugo Douglas-Reeve finished in 13.77 seconds in the U15 80m hurdles while Tori Buckley ducked under the 13 second barrier in the U17 race finishing in 12.90. Macy Kelly ran a very impressive 4.45.22 in the U17 1500m race while speedster Alex Boyer ran 9.24.62 in the 3000m U17 race.
In the field events, Thomas Hill jumped 4.99 in the U15’s Long Jump and threw 25.36m in the javelin with team mate Hugo Douglas-Reeve throwing 22.55 in the same field. Thomas also tried his luck with the pole vault finishing with a 2.40m vault. Hugo, also multi eventing was also in action in the shot put with a 7.79m throw which was good enough for seventh place on the day. Tori Buckley finished 3rd in the U17 Shot Put with an excellent 10.84m throw while Ashton Harrison finished the day with a 4.41m jump in the U17’s men’s Long Jump before retiring injured from the competition. Well done all our athletes.

Iain McCulloch is looking to raise £1,000 to raise awareness of suicide in young men – in memory of Andrew Raine and Iain’s brother Alastair. Iain and a group of family and friends are cycling the C2C route across England, during the first week in August. This initiative is in the memory of those young men who have lost their life with proceeds split between Samaritans and Mind with a hope that this money is used to reach out to people who are in a similar position. Tremendous thing to do Iain, well done.
