Welcome to Darlington Harriers Weekly Round-up Report, keep reading to see what has occurred this week and what is coming up for club members.
How do I?…
- I have a question or want to tell you something
- I want to sign up for an event
- I want to attend a training session
- I want to purchase kit
- I want to claim a club record
- I want to read about our clubs history
- I want to tell our members about our business or see what business they support
- I want to see what discounts are available to me
- I want to read our clubs processes or policies

Our club was formed in 1891, but how did the club become Darlington Harriers? Who were the people that founded the club? Read about some of the great athletes that have graced our club, Olympians George Butterfield, Robert Hawkey and Joy Grieveson. Read about Fred Wyers who competed in the 1958 Commonwealth Games and other notable athletes such as Bob Stockdale, William Wylie, Ian Barnes, Paul Harker, Lewis Moses, Kieran Maxwell who have graced our club over the years and let’s not forget all the current members. The club is steeped in the town’s history from basic beginnings to current day and these pages will be updated daily as I trawl through the British Newspaper Archives.

Get Involved
We want to see the club colours at all of our events, especially team events such as relays, National, Northern or North-Eastern where we can get together as a group, support each other and make these events a social occasion. So let me introduce you to our Senior Club Captains… Please get in touch if you’d like to try Track & Field, Cross Country or take part in any team relays!

In addition to athletes, we are always looking for volunteers to support club and local events so please reach out to Sarah Johnson as your first point of contact if you can support in any way shape or form.
Our Monthly Mile dates are listed below. These events can only go ahead with club members volunteering to help on the night. If you can assist, please contact Jamie Callaghan, Barry Foster or Lesley Miller. Thank you! #UTH

Race Result
We had three Harriers in action at the Even Splits 5k race in York on Friday evening. Some terrific performances by the trio as Alex Boyer (U20) finished with an excellent 15:56, Aiden Colmer (U20) 16:25 and Matthew Foster (U15) 16:40. Top running gentleman.

Well done to all our Harrier, Durham Yorkshire and Cleveland athletes who represented at the English Schools Cross Country this weekend! A long trip to the South Coast this year but a worthwhile trip!

The weekend saw a small number of senior Harriers in action at the British Masters XC Championships at Toll Hill, Glasgow. Michael Harcourt placed 3rd place in V40 race finishing in 27:03 while Amy Pickworth was 8th in her V40 race in 25:10. Full results can be found here

Steve Wilkinson and Nicky Young were in action at the 34 mile, Tyne Bridges to Boundaries Ultra Run. This event is not about racing against others but more of a challenge yourself to achieve personal milestone type event. Running together, Steve and Nicky finished in 6hrs 5mins. Crazy people…but well done!

Ed Lamb was our only runner at the Run Through events at Croft Circuit this weekend. Ed running the half marathon on the day finished 7th in 80:58. Well done Ed.

Tony WIlliams and Lauren Mansfield were in action at the latest Saturn Run, Girl Power vs Backstreets Back in Durham. These events see competitors complete as many miles as they like (minimum of 5km) to gain their medal. Results on the day can be found here. Well done guys!
