Shaun Marshall was in action at the Hamsterley Forest Trail Half Marathon. Running in Hamsterley Forest is never easy and has plenty challenging hills whichever way you run and this race was no different with over 1000ft of elevation. Shaun finished 14th on the day in 1:52.38. Stephen Dent and Deborah Jefferies took on the 10km race and finished in a time of 54.40 for 15th place with Deborah 1.17.04 for 92nd place.

Brass Monkey once again delivered some excellent performances throughout the club members. This course for those who have never done it is very flat and very fast and ideal for any PB hunters out there. The weather although cold over the weekend was also kind which given the recent strong winds in the region must have come to some relief to everyone on the day. Veteran John Clifford was once again first home for the club in 78th place in a time of 1.15.46 which also see him finish as 2nd V50 (there’s someone even quicker out there over 50???). Besides the many PB’s on the day Pauline Brown finished 3rd F55 while Catherine ‘elite’ Anderson was 1st F65 across the line. Tremendous running from all of our members today, some first timers too who all put in excellent

Chris Fothergill ran a 1.17.04 for 100th place and Gareth Kyle ran a 1.19.12 in 144th place are not showing as Darlington Harriers on the results table below.

Cool looking bunch of athletes….oh and Graham!

Sarah Neve and Emma Arrowsmith took on the Skipton Skiddadle 10mile It’s Grimm up north event this weekend. Starting off in Skipton and heading out on the canal to Saltaire, runners have an option of seven distances. Most importantly this route is flat so will attract anyone wishing to stay clear of the hilly routes! On the day Sarah completed the run in 2hrs 06.09 with Emma crossing in 2hrs 27.17. Well done ladies.
