Race Results
Saturday saw the return of the clubs Parkrun takeover at South Park’s parkrun. With a brilliantly organised team of supporters spearheaded by Hilary Bevan and hosted on the day by Catherine Anderson the event was once again a great success thanks to the many members of the club coming along and supporting in some way ranging from marshalling, timing, pacing, running or just generally supporting runners on the way around the circuit. Thank you everyone!

We had a small number of our senior runners at this Sunday’s Marina 5 mile race, a race which takes runners along the coast for half of the distance then send runners the other way back to the finish line. The race is flat which makes it a quick race although can be weather dependant being so exposed on the sea front.
Paul Cook was first home in 17th place and 1st V45 in 29:42 for an unclaimed club record ahead of Shaun Marshall in 21st in 30:06 with Barry Talman 31st in 31:06. David Tomlinson was next back finishing in 33.09 for 62nd place with Shirley Gibson crossing the line to finish in 43.31 in 153rd.

Sunday also saw the annual Kieran Maxwell Open return, Middlesboro being the destination while Eastbourne awaits the new track to be relayed in the autumn of this year. This is the 5th anniversary of Kieran’s passing and it’s great to see so many people remembering him and wanting to pay respects to his legacy by competing. A huge thanks to Mark and the other organisers and to the officials who travelled as far away as Leeds and Ashington to support which is tremendous. More on this next week once results have been released.
Karen Harland once again captured some of the moments of the day and photos can be found here
