It was Chester-le-Street’s turn again for Monday night’s BMC (British Milers Club) meeting.
Three of our Junior Harriers turned out, along with the other athletes from around the region an beyond, for the night’s series of 800m races.
With confidence booming after his recent Inter-Counties victory, our young steeplechaser, Liam Brittle, was ready for more. He worked hard and managed to knock over a second off his PB, finishing in a time of 2:07.00…..and it couldn’t have been much closer; he finished 3rd overall, only beaten by an U23 and U20 athlete, the winning time being 2:06.3!
Well done Liam!
India Pentland’s reputation preceeds her with a string of outstanding performances all throughout her junior athletics career. At a recent BMC meeting she PB’d in the mile ranking her 4th in the UK. Tonight she was just outside her PB for the 800m, finishing in 2nd place in a time of 2:14.52, just a second behind the winner.
Great run, India, well done!
Another regular at the local BMC meetings is U17 endurance expert, Ellie Phillips.
Having just run an impressive Inter-Counties 1500m at the weekend, she was back for the 800m tonight. Not quite a PB this time but another solid performance, crossing the line in 2:27.86.
Great effort, Ellie, well done!
Excellent running from our three junior Harriers, a credit to DHAC!
