On Sunday morning…very early Sunday morning Darren Thompson set out for the 5am first leg of the Cleveland Way Relays. This 110mile event starts at Filey at 5am and finishes at Helmsley. This event is great fun with a number of challenging legs, some long, some short…generally all tough! Despite the team taking an early lead, the team were pegged back by some excellent runners who know the routes and train around these parts.
The team finished in a fantastic 4th place, a big improvement on last years debut and probably some further learnings for Captain Phil Teece to take in next years event. Huge thank you to Phil for organising the teams as it’s a logistical nightmare, the support crew who picked up and dropped runners off and all the runners who ran on the day. Fantastic team event one which we should try to get a second team in next year. Well done team!
