PB’s Tumble At Sunderland

On a warm Thursday evening we had some of our club runners in action at Silksworth 5km race at Sunderland. This race is split into separate Veteran, Women and Men’s races due to the number of participants.

This is a very fast race where a high number of North East Runners congregate to try to break their personal best. The course itself starts with a slight incline then an extremely fast downhill section before levelling off to a fairly flat parkrun course around the large lake, 1.5 times.

Some fantastic performances across all three races, Paul Allan smashing his personal best and the 16 minute barrier to finish 15th in 15:58, with Wes Tarn another to benefit on the night by breaking his best by 30 seconds in 16:37. Louise Talman finished 6th in the Ladies race in 18:36 with Nova Tarn 60th in 24:19. Jeff Miller, the only V50 from the club in the field finishing 20th in 19:12.

Some great performances throughout with impressive runs from Simon Rogers, Barry Talman, Karl Hume and Adam Harker.
