Two young athletes have been turning heads recently with some fantastic cross country performances, and we are delighted to announce that they are now members of Darlington Harriers! Twin brothers, Adam and John Russell are in Year 9 at Hummersknott and are definitely a force to be reckoned with.
We first became aware of the boys when they ran for Hummersknott in the Year 8/9 race of the Darlington Schools Cross Country, where they lead for most of the race, and finished, virtually together in 1st and 2nd place. Then again last week in the County race at Barnard Castle where they battled through the tough conditions to finish an impressive 3rd and 5th , qualifying to run for Durham County. We often thought they should be running for Darlington Harriers, not knowing they had recently joined the club….which is why they weren’t mentioned in last week’s report (apologies for that boys!)
This weekend they are competing for the club in the Northern Cross Country Championships at Leeds, so we look forward to hearing how the boys, and our other Junior Harriers get on (full write up in next week’s report).
So welcome to the club boys, we’re sure you’ll be a great addition to our Junior Harriers team. We look forward to reporting on your future success!
