More Harriers At Hexham

Whilst Charlotte, Tori and Lottie were taking part in their respective pentathlons, several more of our Junior Harriers were competing in a series of open 1500m races.

Adam Russell ran in an U17/U20/Senior race. As an U17 athlete he was one of the younger competitors, and produced a fantastic performance to finish in 1st place in a time of 4:14.70. Incedentally, the only senior in the race was our very own junior coach, Adam Mitchell. An excellent run brought Adam home in 6th place, crossing the line in 4:25.37. Well done to both.

Marissa Boon and Mia Wetherill both ran in what was predominantly an U17 race, apart from one U20 athlete. They’re both still in Year 1 at this age group and as usual the girls did themselves proud. Marissa was the first of them to finish taking 6th place, and in doing so recorded her first ever 1500m time; an excellent 5:01.12. Mia wasn’t far behind in 7th place, crossing the line in 5:10.15. Fabulous effort girls, well done!

And finally, an U13/U15 girls race with two more of our juniors competing. Zara Jones is still an U13 athlete, yet she managed to produce another impressive performance against a field of mostly U15 athletes. She was just a couple of seconds behind the winner from Gateshead Harriers, crossing the line in 5:13.46, a new PB for Zara! Not far behind in 6th place was U15, Macy Kelly. She battled hard and produced another excellent performance, also finishing with a new PB of 5:24.89, knocking 16 seconds off her previous best! Great stuff girls!

Well done to everyone, top running from the blue & whites!
