More from Morpeth

On Sunday 6th September we had nine athletes head to King Edward VI School in Morpeth for the second of the NECAA Open Meetings.

In the longer sprints we had six athletes competing. In the 200m John Hall was first up in Heat 9 where he ran to 3rd place in 29.09 and in Heat 16 Ste Gordon ran to 3rd place in 26.25.

U15 Ashton Harrison finished in 1st place in his 300m heat with a PB of 42.78. In the 400m, John Hall finished 2nd in Heat 2 with 68.58 with Amy Pickworth following in 3rd place with a PB 71.56, last up in the 400m was Andy Harrison in Heat 3, finishing 3rd in a PB time of 57.28.

There was a first run out of the season over 1500m for three of our athletes, all with outstanding runs.

First up was Amy Pickworth in Heat 1, finishing in 1st place with a PB of 5:22.64, then we had Tom Addison in Heat 3 running to 2nd place with a PB of 5:02.27. Finally, U15 Harry Lyons ran an outstanding race with a PB of 4:36.59.

In the field events we had Throwers and Jumpers on show. U15 Lily Thompson was in Discus action, throwing 21.99m and in the Shot Put U17 Charlotte Rutter threw a PB of 10.32m.

In the Long Jump we had U15 Ashton Harrison jump to a PB 4.29m in the same pool as Charlotte Rutter who jumped to a PB of 5.13m. In the second pool Andy Harrison unfortunately couldn’t keep the jump PBs coming as he jumped 5.03m.

Another great day of Track & Field with outstanding performances across the board from our athletes. With England Athletics extending the outdoor season to the end of October, hopefully we’ll see more action over the next few weeks.

Huge well done to all the athletes and thanks to everyone for supplying the pictures.
