Having missed virtually all of the 2019 Track and Field season through injury, Liam Brittle was back on the track last weekend, but this time it was indoors. Sheffield’s English Institute of Sport was the location for the first Northern Athletics Indoor Open meeting, and Liam had entered the 2000m; only his second race since being back from injury.
The race itself was the second of two heats, mixed, and with various age groups, and with Liam now classed as an Under 20 on the track, this was going to be a good test for him. Well, things couldn’t have gone better; he pushed hard, always staying in contention, and crossed the line in 1st place, winning by a clear two seconds. Although it wasn’t a PB, he set a new Season’s Best of 6:31.97 and was very happy with his performance.
A tremendous result, and a great start to the new indoor season…..and hopefully a big confidence boost too! Well done Liam, we look forward to seeing you compete again soon!
