Last Sunday saw the latest instalment of the Senior league Track and Field at Whitley Bay. With some excellent results already in the bag from previous league meetings, one more top finish could see the Senior Harriers once again progress back into League 3 after the partnership with Chester-Le-Street last season saw the club placed back in League 4 while CLS were allowed to continue in the higher division. This was due to administration errors from CLS which saw promotion to League 2 disappear after ineligible athletes had competed for the combo team.
It came as no surprise to see the senior group once again take top spot on the day and clinch promotion at first time of asking with some excellent performances across all track and field events in addition to the official support which all adds to the points total. As a point of note, CLS were relegated from their division on debut as a solo team. Fantastic achievement from all and a big thank you to club captains Paul Allan and Sue Phillips for their organisation this season.
To cap an amazing week for the club, the junior track and field team along with partners Allerton Juniors have won promotion from North East Youth Development League Division 2 South! Division 1 next season! Again, well done to all involved especially team managers Adam Mitchell and Glen Hilton!
