Juniors Travel To Coast For Fixture

It was a great turnout from our Juniors for the NYSD’s second fixture last weekend with 21 young Harriers taking part. Once again conditions underfootwere pretty soft but they gave it their all, and as usual produced some excellent results.

Under 11 Boys The first of our juniors to finish was Daniel I’Anson, who we’ve seen before but this was his first NYSD cross country race. He put in a great run to cross the line in 5th place in a time of 4:53. We’re sure it won’t be the last we’ve seen of Daniel this season! Back again after his debut at the last NYSD was Harry Glenton with another excellent run; this time it was 8th place in 5:04.

And talking of debut runs, this was the first NYSD for Freddie Radmore; a fabulous start to his cross country running, finishing just behind Harry in a point scoring 9th place, in a time of 5:06. And it was great to see Daniel’s younger brother, James I’Anson back again after his debut at Acklam last time; another tremendous performance crossing the line in 12th place in a time of 5:09. Excellent running boys, keepup the good work!

Under 11 Girls Just the one Under 11 girl this week, one of our regulars, Lottie Graves. As usual, she battled all the way to the finish and crossed the line in 10th place in a time of 5:11. Another top ten finish and another point added to her total. Well done, Lottie, great effort.

Leggin’ it! Our U11’s give it their all: L-R, Daniel, Harry, Freddie, James and Lottie

Under 13 Boys As usual our U13 squad were out in force with four boys and five girls here today. Alex Boyer, once again, showed he’s a real force to be reckoned with, producing another victory to add to the ever growing list; the clear winner in a time of 11.28. We’ve been so impressed with Elwood Kelley this season, consistently producing some excellent performances, and adding another here today; a superb 2nd place in a time of 11:47.

And we could say the same about Louis Brett who’s had a really strong start to the season; he didn’t disappoint today, finishing in 4th place in 12:21. Finally, an excellent run from Matthew Vest on his first NYSD of the season. He finished in 16th place in a time of 13:28; we have no doubts he’ll be racking those points up as the season progresses! And with the top three counting towards the team event, a nice low score of 7 points put DHAC in 1st place, 18 points ahead of Allerton in 2nd place! Well done lads, outstanding!

The winning team! L-R, Alex, Elwood, Louis and Matthew

Under 13 Girls Zara Jones showed her strength once again with another fantastic run today. It was another 7 points in the bag today for finishing 4th, in an excellent time of 12:58. Next up were Savannah Tarn and Freya Talman who finished within 5 seconds of each other. They’ve both consistently produced strong performances this season and did so again here.

Savannah was 7th across the line in 13:55, and in 14.00 exactly was Freya in 8th place. Tori Buckley was our next U13 to finish; still getting over a recent injury, her aim today was to finish – which she certainly did. In fact, she still did well enough to score a point, crossing the line in 10th place in a time of 14:23. And just a few seconds behind Tori was Libby Hammond; her first NYSD of the season and we’re sure it won’t be the last! A great run from Libby finishing in 12th place in 14:26. In the team event, another great result for DHAC with the girls finishing in 2nd place. A fabulous effort girls, well done to all!

Go Girls Go! L-R, Zara, Savannah, Freya, Tori and Libby

Under 15 Girls With no U15 boys in action today, it’s onto the girls, with three of the best running today. In cracking form today, and only 5 seconds behind the winner was Marissa Boon , finishing in 2nd place in 17:41. A tremendous run, and surely a massive confidence boost for Marissa – hopefully the sign of things to come for the rest of the season.

Not far behind in 4th place, in a time of 19:04 was Macy Kelly; another young Harrier showing real potential. We look forward to seeing what the rest of the season holds for Macy. Next, and her first NYSD of the season was Emily Vest; and a great start too, scoring 3 points after an impressive performance to finish in 8th place, in a time of 20:47. And the three girls together put DHAC in 2nd place in the team event. Great work girls, well done!

Left….and they’re off! Emily, Macy and Marissa get off to a flying start
Right: Marissa, motoring!

Under 17 Men Running with the seniors, we had four of our regulars competing today, with a strong performance from them all. The first of them to finish was Alex’s big brother, Daniel Boyer. He put in a fantastic run to finish only six seconds behind the winner, taking 2nd place in a time of 18:39. Next up were our twin brothers, Adam & John Russell.

If you’ve seen the results, John is down as finishing 3rd and Adam 4th, but the boys got their numbers mixed up and it was Adam who was the first of them to cross the line in 18:46, followed by John in 19:12. Still, two impressive results whichever way you look at it! And finally, making great improvements this season was Harry Wilson; a tremendous run bought him home in 20:53 to take 7th place. And the second 1st place of the day for DHAC in the team events with a spectacular 9 points. An impressive performance lads, well done!

Under 17 Women Once again, running alongside the seniors was our regular U17 endurance runner, Millie Grayson. She showed real determination today and was the 3rd U17 to complete the race, finishing 65th overall out of the 130 competing in a time of 29:15. A fabulous effort, Millie, well done.

A super effort today from all our Junior Harriers, and as always plenty of performances to be proud of, leading to some excellent team results. We look forward to the next NYSD meeting on 24th November at Fox Rush Community Woodland, Redcar. See you there!
