Despite being under the weather, Charlotte Rutter still took part in the England Athletics U15/U17 Indoor Combined Event Championships last weekend. She’d been looking forward to this event all season, but unfortunately, like many at the moment, she wasn’t on top form when it came to the big day due to another bug doing the rounds.
Having said that, she still managed a PB of 9.03m in the Shot, and her overall total of 2794 points was also a PB. She finished 31st out of the 49 athletes who started, so under the circumstances we think she did amazingly well.
She was also desperate to compete at this weekend’s NECAA Indoor Pentathlon but, although she has improved, her coach advised against it. As you can imagine, Charlotte was devastated, but she did the sensible thing and listened to her coach…..and remember this is still her first year at Under 17 so there’s always next year!
Get well soon, Charlotte, we look forward to seeing you back in action again soon
