Gabby Runs For Gavin

Hundreds of runners lined up for the second annual Gavin Duffy Memorial Five Kilometre Race last Sunday. Gavin, a well respected runner and fundraiser from Billingham Marsh House Harriers, died in a tragic road accident whilst holidaying in Dubai in November, 2013. This event, run in Gavin’s memory, has become part of the Stockton Winter 5k Trail Series and attracts hundreds of runners from the region.

Before the main event took place, the younger athletes braved the elements in the junior race, and spotted flying the Darlington Harriers flag was our Under 13, Gabrielle Hall. As always Gabby ran a really strong race and was the first girl to cross the line. In fact, she was 2nd overall, only beaten by one older boy. Well done, Gabby, another excellent performance

If you haven’t seen it all ready, there’s some great video footage of the event on YouTube which can be viewed at the following link
