We had some of our runners competing at the biggest of the major marathons, the Virgin London Marathon; a fantastic race which takes runners through the streets of London, passing the likes of the Cutty Sark, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament and the occasional elite athlete, as Joanne and Brian found. Here’s one from the archives, Sue Phillips wearing the club colours in probably her first ever Cross Country event. By Sue’s own admission the form is questionable but maybe she’s giving someone a back hander to stop her going back up that hill at Whitby. Still going strong and breaking records.
We had some of our Harriers involved in an ‘All Cleveland Bridge’ employee at Woburn Abbey, Bedford. This event hosted by the Duke of Bedford, was a half marathon relay. Harriers Leslie Walker ran the first leg of one mile followed by Tony, before passing to Harrier’s John Brant then Wayne Bramley before passing the baton
