Many of our Junior Harriers excel at other sporting activities as well as athletics, and that certainly is the case with our very own, Under 15 Harrier, Nat Bell. As well as athletics, Nat’s other passion is football and, as well as his school team, he currently plays for two other teams as well! He has played for Darlington TSC, a Sunday league team, part of the Teesside Junior Football Alliance league, since he was ten years old. The team were league champions at the end of last season, and were promoted to Division 2. The boys currently lie in 3rd place, with a game in hand over the top two, both of which they beat at the start of the season. So things are looking promising!
More recently, Nat was selected for the Darlington & District Schools team who play a series of league and cup games on Saturdays against other towns/districts in the North East. They’ve just had two games so far and Nat has managed to find the back of the net twice in both, and currently stands as the team’s top scorer. Their latest outing was a tough game against Middlesbrough which ended in a 3-3 draw; considering they haven’t been playing together for that long, the Darlington boys have soon gelled as a team, and were unlucky not to come away with a win.
So it’s a busy time for Nat and his football at the moment, we wish him well for the rest of the season – whichever team he’s playing for!
