If you need something to blow away the cob-webs, there’s nothing like a run out on a cold icy day (or so I’ve been told!) Well those were the conditions facing Under 13, Joe Reeve as he prepared himself for the 3k Junior Run last Saturday.
Hosted by Howgill Harriers, the 3k run was the pre-curser to the main event later that day, The Ravenstonedale 10k, near Kirkby Stephen, Cumbria. A field of 25 eager young runners headed off on a circuit around the wintery lanes of Ravenstonedale, starting off with a tough climb, then flattening out on the tops, before descending back down to the start.
The run started off at a really fast pace, but Joe kept his head and sensibly ran his own race. Before long the pacesetters began to tire and Joe’s experience shone through. He overtook them and managed to win the race comfortably. Text book stuff, Joe, well done! You’ll have to get your Dad to extend that trophy cabinet!
