Harriers Get the Bronze out

Saturday saw a number of our athletes at the Royal Signal Relay event at Hetton Lyons Country Park, Sunderland; an event which sees ladies in teams of 4 and men 6. The course itself is 2.2 miles and consists of two laps on a very undulating course to ensure that all athletes work.

The ladies team got things underway with a gutsy run finishing 3rd senior team (Our team had 3 VET ladies in the team) to earn a well deserved bronze finishing in 55:31. This achievement was replicated by our mens V40 team who finished 3rd in 1:19:39 despite the results showing the Over 40’s team as being under 40 (clearly we all look young and have good genes….ahem).

Our other two ladies teams finished in 1:02 and 1:14 respectively while our senior mens team finished in an impressive 8th place overall in a speedy 1:11:53.

The second male senior team also performed well, keeping some strong teams at bay as they finished their run in 1:34:18.

Some fantastic displays right through the teams and something we as a club should look to get a bigger turn out next year.
