Harriers 1-2-3?

Wednesday saw the first Middlesbrough Mile (Stride Events) event take place at the Sports Village. This event is new on the racing calendar but definitely one which would be good to see happen on a regular basis to test everyone’s top end speed-endurance.

The races are graded based on your own prediction which makes each heat more competitive. The event started in awful circumstances when one of the athletes had a heart attack and was rushed to hospital. Thankfully this was not fatal and the man in question is back on his feet.

In heat number two, Mark Tallon was 6th across the line in 6:33, with wife Lucia 11th in 8:12

Amy Pickworth equalling Lucia’s 11th placed finish in heat 3with a time of 5:53.

Heat 4 saw Dean Newton take the win in 4:31, just edging out Lee Johnson in 4:32 and Paul Allan in 4:40.

Shaun Marshall was next home in 5:04, followed by Barry Talman in 5:25, three seconds ahead of Andy Harrison (5:28) and wife Louise Talman in 5:34.

Great times by all Harriers on the evening with some personal bests too!
