Two Weeks Running for Kate

Under 15 Sprinter, Kate Williams, travelled to the EIS, Sheffield two weekends on the trot recently to compete at two major indoor events. The first was on Sunday 26th January at the Sheffield Festival Open where she competed in the 60m and the 200m.

Kate was drawn in Heat 1 for the 60m where she ran a season’s best of 8.48s to finish in 6th place – only 0.08s shy of her PB!

It was the first time she’d run the 200m indoors, and like most athletes found running round the banked bends a bit strange, but she performed admirably, finishing in 4th place in an excellent time of 27.56s, not far off her outdoors PB of 26.9s.

Joining Kate was our GB superstar, India Oates who was competing in the Senior Women’s 60m. It was her first time indoors and she ran a cracking race, setting a new PB of 10.61s in the process.

Kate then returned to Sheffield again for the Northern Athletics U13/U15 Indoor Championships on Sunday 2nd February. She must have taken to the 200m on her last visit as she entered the same race again here.

Kate was drawn in Heat 7 where she put in a terrific performance to take 1st place in a time of 27.13, beating her indoors best from the week before.

On to the semi-final and another impressive run finishing in 4th place in a time of 27.26s – just missing out on qualification to the final.

Nice one girls, some top sprinting from both!

Well done!
