Whilst the rest of our juniors were battling their way around a muddy cross country course in Liverpool, our U17 all-rounder, Charlotte Rutter, made a return visit to Sheffield for the relative comfort of the indoors.
Yes, it may have been warmer and drier, but the competition was just as fierce at the Indoor Combined Events Championships; five disciplines against 45 of the country’s best multi-event athletes.
Event | Time/Distance | Points | |
60mH | 9.04s | 902 | 2nd overall |
High Jump | 1.51m | 632 | Equalled PB |
Shot Putt | 10.13m | 538 | New PB |
Long Jump | 5.09m | 584 | Equalled PB |
800m | 2:45.80 | 508 | Indoor PB |

Quite simply, an outstanding overall performance.
This left Charlotte with a cumulative total of 3164 points, which was also a new PB!
Medals were awarded for overall placings as well as regional, and Charlotte took bronze medal for the North (12th overall). What a tremendous way to finish her first year as an U17 athlete; well done, Charlotte.
Like many, she’d been so much looking forward to the start of the new outdoor season, but for now at least, that will have to wait, unfortunately.
