It seems like forever since our Junior Harriers took part in any real outdoor competition, so as restrictions eased last weekend it was fantastic to see some of them in action once again
Redcar Rugby Club hosted a cross country competition open to Athletic Clubs within the Tees Valley area. However, in order to comply with current guidelines there were still certain restrictions in place. For example, the course included an ‘out’ and ‘back’ section which were taped off to maintain 2m between athletes running in opposite directions. There were also staggered starts with groups of 4 starting at 10 second intervals, with the fastest groups heading off first. All in all, a very well organised event under the circumstances, and as usual our Juniors did themselves proud. Here’s how they got on….
Under 13 Boys (2.5km)
3rd Hugo Douglas-Reeves 10:40
4th Daniel I’Anson 11:29
5th Freddie Radmore 11:33
Under 13 Girls (2.5km)
1st Zara Jones 9:39
2nd Sophie Bannister 10:09
4th Lottie Graves 11:37
Senior Men + Under 15 Boys (5km)
6th Harry Wilson 18:41
7th Alex Boyer 18:44
12th Dylan Wilson 19:43
Senior Women + Under 15 Girls (5km)
7th Olivia Douglas-Reeves 26:30

Some excellent performances as you can see. We’re sure we’ll be seeing lots more of this bunch as we ease into the Track and Field season and hopefully see restrictions lifted even further. Well done to all who took part.
Many thanks to the DHAC parents and the ever present Karen Harland for the use of their photos.
