Unfortunately, due to the horrendous weather conditions on Friday night and Saturday morning, the Durham Schools Track & Field Championships were cancelled. Many of our juniors were due to compete with the hope of being selected for the County team who will take part in the Northern Inter Counties at Gateshead next weekend. Selections will now be made based on Power of 10 times and distances.
Conditions were a little more favourable at Middlesbrough Sports Village on Saturday where athletes were battling for their place in the Cleveland Schools County team. We’re pleased to announce that Charlotte Rutter comfortably made it through to compete at the Inter-Counties next weekend. Congratulations, Charlotte, well deserved!
Also competing in the Year 7 District Competition was Libby Hammond for Stockton Schools. She performed well in the long jump finishing in 3rd place with a best of 3.40m, and produced a great effort in the 800m to finish in 2nd place. Well done, Libby! ☺
Meanwhile, our thoughts go out to Liam Brittle who suffered ligament damage whilst competing in the steeplechase on Saturday. He was hopeful of reaching the English Schools finals but it looks like he’ll be out for the rest of the season. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Liam, from all at DHAC.
