Darren and Sara Gee were in fell race action on Saturday at the inaugural cross fell race out of Garrigill, a 24km event with around 2000ft of ascent. The route takes competitors along the Pennine Way so all very runnable with a caveat from Darren who said “if you like big hills with only the last push to cross fell being a bit of a hike”.
Darren reported that 2 miles after cross fell of indistinguishable footpath across the moor made it interesting and then upon rejoining the Pennine Way it was a blast back down to Garrigill for the finish tea, cake and sandwiches…where do I sign Darren??
Darren fed back to say that the weather was very hot but they both had a good day. Darren finished 11th in 2.11.32 and Sara 53rd in 3.57. Fantastic effort by you both
